Write about what you know

August 11th, 2008

A very simple comment , oft repeated , and often ignored by many, myself included. I recently completed 2 sizeable articles in the space of 2 days having deleted all my more ambitious plans to write more adventurous stuff that I wasn’t so sure about. Having decided that I wasn’t going to put into print material I wasn’t confident about, I simply wrote titles for two articles I was confident of , and off I went. Two detailed articles in 2 days. For me this was only possible because the required knowledge was already in my head and all i did was pour it out into words.

I say , write about what you know rather than write about your passions simply because a passion for something does not always equate to a detailed and accurate knowledge of the topic. But if you where to use that passion to fuel your learning of the topic, then one day you could write easily of the topic.

Yes, you will read on many forums of folk writing anything from 3 to 20 articles a day, but perhaps you might want to examine their output before deciding on whether thats the path for you.

For me , an article a day was pretty good going, considering the level of detail and the lenght of the articles. Plus, i only do this part time. Content is important for any website, and useful content, will usually prevail over the dross that fills the web, given time. At least, I hope so.

Online Business- Making money online :)

July 28th, 2008

Whether you’re the stereotypical bachelor working away at developing your dream online business, from your bedroom or living room, or an established bricks and mortar business, it certainly makes sense to examine ways of placing your business online.

Nowadays, there are several tools to assist you in doing business online. However, although this is no longer the mid nineties when virtually everything ecommerce was being invented, one needs to recognise that the required technologies will not always be available. A detailed knowledge and familiarity with what is actually available and can be readily deployed can make a big difference to your businesses.  As one who several time re invented the wheel, i should know this.

webmasterworld.com

July 18th, 2008

This is the top webmaster forum that I know off. Its also the very first webmaster related forum that i joined. Webmasterworld.com has its rules and its character.  Sell promotion is not permitted and in that spirit, participants are not permitted to post self serving  urls.  The rules are very firmly applied by the large team of moderator assisted by the forum members.  What you get is a forum where Google , Yahoo and MSN representatives feel comfortable enough to post openly, and in what appears to be an official capacity as representatives of their companies.  Amongsts the many members of this board, you will find many internet titans correspondig, though the anonymity afforded by the board obscures their identity. Basically, you can get to interact with some of the top figures in the internet business.

The forum membership has a remarkable amount of Search engine optimisation knowledge accumulated and a few days spent reading the archives of this forum would be time well spent for any begineer to the web business arena. However, the lack of direct specific information can make it hard to put the information garnered into actual action on the web. The solution to that is to experiment , at least more than I did when I commenced this phase of my business life.

Within a few months of participating in the webmasterworld.com forum, for the first time, I started feeling like a professional at what I was trying to do.

Webmaster forums

July 17th, 2008

As a web business person, participation in internet forums is probably essential.  If you don’t wish to participate actively, you should at least lurk and read the forum posts avidly. I discovered what a lot of people probably already know, the growth of knowledge in any individual grows from exchange of data with other individuals. By participating with others , you’re quite likely to learn someting from the experience of others while bearing in mind the necessity of experimenting with or trying out your own methods.

In this category, I will writing about the many forums I’ve participated in .
